Consortium for Executive Development
Consortium for Executive Development

Babson's Consortium for Executive Development helps your company adapt and thrive in today's changing business environment by helping you develop a corporate entrepreneurial mind-set within your organization. Membership in the Consortium provides your company with a way to:

Pioneered by Babson in 1980, the Consortium for Executive Development consists of global member companies that are market leaders in noncompeting industries. Every year, each member selects three to six high potential managers from diverse functional operating units to attend the program. Participants attend for two continuous weeks in either June or September. Representatives from the member companies meet annually with faculty to review and update the program. In this way, the program always reflects the management needs of member companies and the latest trends in business.

Why Join the Consortium?

"By joining together with other non-competing companies,
we are able to tailor the curriculum to meet our company-specific
needs. This approach provides customization and gives
managers from the member companies an opportunity to
learn from each other. You can't get this from a typical open
enrollment or custom program. That's what's so
unique about the Babson consortium"
Randy Drummond, Director of Management Development, Osram Sylvania, Inc.

1. Grow Your Business

The Executive Development program helps you develop a team of managers who are able to use an entrepreneurial approach to seek out global opportunities, evaluate these effectively, create financially sound proposals, marshal financial resources and gain internal support. The skills learned here will allow your managers to generate new value for customers and investors, while acting as agents of change who spread this capability throughout your organization.

2. Expand Your Resources

Your company will have access to an extensive multi-organization network that you can provide a wide range of information and solutions. This network consists of Babson faculty experts and Consortium member company participants, representatives, and alumni. Network contacts exchange ideas during the program, and communicate afterwards, through an Internet connection that allows all alumni to continue discussions. This allows you to reduce the time and money you invest in benchmarking, gives you on-going access to faculty expertise, and fosters cross-functional teamwork among your managers.

3. Access to a wealth of Babson resources

Because your managers will be dealing with real challenges currently faced in your business, their participation allows you to benefit from the regular input of Babson’s faculty experts. Our faculty will know your company in-depth and have considerable experience consulting with other firms facing similar problems.

4. Measure Your Results

To ensure that managers develop as your company requires we employ a Babson's Executive Road Map to monitor progress. The Road Map details how each individual will apply learning to reach corporate goals. It includes: A. pre-program planning with each manager's supervisor, B. in-program projects focused on your firm's challenges accompanied by personal action plans, C. managers and their supervisors set post-program plans for continued development and Babson staff helps to identify program results.
