Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship Research Center

The objective of Babson’s new Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship Research Center is to help organizations encourage entrepreneurial thinking and action in order to build their capacity to innovate.
This research consortium of Babson experts and representatives from some of the world’s leading organizations will undertake focused research studies that will produce insightful and practical guidance for executives on using corporate entrepreneurship as an organizational asset. The program will provide concrete examples of “best practices” on corporate venturing, successful organizational transformation and creating effective corporate innovation networks.
Sponsoring companies will gain an in-depth understanding of the entrepreneurial processes and strategies that foster innovation. Members will also have access to a network of peers with whom to share best practices in innovation and corporate entrepreneurship.
We generally examine four or five research topics per year. For each topic, we identify lead researchers and lead sponsors, depending on expertise and interest in a topic.
What are sample research topics?
Anticipated research topics include the following:
- Corporate venturing
- New product generation, development, and commercialization
- Unconventional new approaches for product generation, development and commercialization
- Organizational transformation
- Non-product innovation (services, processes, management practices, and etc.): does it require a distinctive approach?
- Navigating innovation networks: new approaches for spotting and leveraging high-performance teams
- Alternative forms of innovation
